Career Change? It Is Never Too Late

Find something that you love to do and you'll never have to work a day in your life. - Harvey MacKay

There is no denying it. You are dissatisfied with your present job or career path. Somewhere in the vicinity of 45% of workers claim some level of unhappiness with their job. Are you one of them? Do you have a desire for a career change? Perhaps you hate your job completely. Maybe you like the job, but are dissatisfied with the pay or the hours. Whatever it is for you, a change may be in order.

How?

But how do you go about doing this? Well, let's start with the scenario that you are okay with you current job, but the hours, pay, responsibility or various other factors are not to your liking. You have to take responsibility for the situation that you are now in. You made certain choices that put you here. Alright, now you can go to the supervisor or boss and request changes that may improve your situation. Can you work more or less hours? A different shift? Is there a possibility of becoming a supervisor? can you work from home a few days per week? Write down any and all questions you can think of. If you are going to flat out ask for a raise, you had better be able to come up with some good reasons as the why you deserve. When any of my employees would ask for a raise, I wanted to know why they felt they deserved it. Not just because they felt one was due. I would then try and "feel out" what the real reason was. Usually it is job dissatisfaction. If they were willing to take on more responsibility and re-energize themselves, I would be more than willing to increase their rate of pay. If not then we would discuss the reality of a career change and I would help them as much as possible.

Is It Time To Go?

If the above options are not viable, or if you just know that a career change is what you crave, then you should be honest with yourself about. Sit down with a pen and paper and write down the top 10 or 20 things you love to do. Why are these things on the list? Now, is there a way for you to make enough money at any of these things to support yourself and your family? Could you get by on less income? Most of us overspend. Take a look at the wants vs needs article to help you make this decision.

Work From Home

A lot of people feel that they would love to work from home. A home based business would give their lives the freedom and flexibility they so desire. How does one go about researching the seemingly endless opportunities of home based businesses? As with most topics, there is a lot of information out there about starting a home based business. I would say that about 85-90% of that information is not credible. I strongly recommend taking a look at developing your own internet based business or website. You may have read about becoming an affiliate for other merchants and earn commissions on products that people purchase through your website. It just does not get much easier than this. If this sounds appealing, I strongly recommend the

free Affiliate Masters Course. I consider it the best resource available to those condering this approach to starting a home business. I consider it the best resource available to those considering this approach to starting a home business. If you decide that this approach is not for you that is fine. Just concentrate on a topic or industry you love and try to build a business around it.

Deciding to make a career change isn't easy, but it may be the best decision you have ever made for your life.
