Use fitness circuit training exercises to burn fat and build muscle. You can do at home circuit training routines.

When it comes to these exercises you are really only limited by your imagination.

And you can do at home circuit training. What a great way lose fat and maintain muscle.

What Is Circuit Training?

You simply move from one exercise to the next with little or no rest between movements. You may complete a set of dumbbell presses followed by push ups followed by dumbbell curls, and so on. At the end of one circuit you take a break and then repeat the circuit.

The benefits of circuit training workouts are:

  • you can do an awesome full body workout in 30 minutes
  • you can circuit training at home
  • you can do bodyweight circuit training
  • some expert training suggest this is the best way to burn fat and build muscle

At Home Circuit Training

One of the most appealing aspects of using fitness circuit training as part of your fat loss routine is that you do not really need any fancy equipment.

You can easily do at home circuit training.

It is very possible to do a 30 minute circuit training program using only bodyweight exercises!

Follow it up with some H.I.I.T. and you would have a great fat burning circuit training routine.

Dumbbell Circuit Training

Home Circuit Training

You can choose to do bodyweight circuit training or you may want to use dumbbell circuit training for some extra resistance.

  • increases your heart rate
  • increases calories burned
  • increases your metabolism

If you do not have dumbbells you could use fitness tubing or resistance bands as seen in the picture. This is a very versatile and effective piece of equipment.

Okay, let's take a look at some circuit training exercises that you can use.

We will look at

  • lower body circuit training exercises
  • upper body circuit training exercises

Lower Body Circuit Training

Here is a list of lower body circuit training exercises for you to pick from.

  • Squats- No fitness routine is complete without squats. You can do them both legs at a time or one leg at a time.


  • Squats

  • Lunges- Again you can do one leg at a time for a set number of reps, or you can alternate legs.
  • Lunges

  • Calf Raise- Do them with toes pointed out, toes straight, and toes pointed in. Perform 15 reps each without any rest.

Upper Body Circuit Training

Here is where you can really take advantage of bodyweight circuit training. Specifically you are thinking about a push up workout.

Of course there are many dumbbell or resistance band exercises that can be done as well such as biceps curls, lateral raises, alternating shoulder presses, triceps extensions, front raises, single arm rows.

  • Push-Ups- To make regular push-ups easier (remember you need to sustain them for 30-60 seconds), keep your knees in contact with the ground.

  • Wide Push-Ups- Same as a regular push-up except spread your hands to wider than shoulder width.

  • Diamond Push-Ups- Same as a regular push-up except place your hands together and make a diamond shape with your thumbs and forefingers.

  • Chair Dips- Sit on the edge of a chair with your hands placed just under your buttocks. Keeping your feet onthe floor out in front of you, lower your butt down towards the floor. Do as many reps as you can.

Circuit Training Routines

The few exercises mentioned are are just a drop in the bucket. There are hundreds are exercises that can be performed as part of your circuit training routine.

Perform the exercises one after the other with little or no rest.

After completing the circuit, take a 1-3 minute break and repeat the circuit.

I follow my circuit training routines with some H.I.I.T. for 10-15 minutes. Maybe wind sprints outside or sprints on my elliptical machine.

You will find this type of training to be incredibly effective to lose fat and maintain muscle.
