Relationship Rules For Everyone

Most of us feel the need to love and be loved. The comfort of a relationship and joy of companionship. I am so completely okay with being alone. I never thought I would feel that way. However, we are not islands and being together and sharing our lives with someone special has appeal.

But, human relationships being what they are, this is a huge area where we need help, advice, and tips on how to make things work. We need relationship rules. We need guidance to help foster a soulful, meaningful, exciting, stimulating, productive, supportive and long lasting relationship with our partner.

Differences Are Okay

Yes men and women are different or that they have differences. It is somewhat crazy to not acknowledge that. But, and this is key, we are not separate species, nor do we come from different planets, as some would have us believe. I simply will not subscribe to this way of thinking. Could it be possible that we have more in common with one another than we have different? We need to embrace the things we have in common and allow our differences to become our strengths.

A relationship should be a team. Each team member has strengths, talents and skills that they bring to the game. If there are differences between you and your partner, try to view them as being as special talents that can be used. Talents that can be used to help your relationship function more effectively.

You are in this together, and you need to work together to make it successful. Combine the talents you have in common.

We are all frightened, vulnerable, and trying to make sense of this crazy world. If we just focus on the differences and make them the issue, we cannot enjoy the common ground and similarities. We risk losing out of what could be the best relationship of our lives.
